Mother Nature's Angry Side

On the night of 4/23/2011, I watched a massive storm pass just north of my in-laws' home in Denton, Texas. I set up my camera and took about an hour's worth of 6 second exposures at wide angle (10mm).

Bluebonnet Air Show, Burnet, Texas 2011

Great but small little airshow in Burnet, Texas! I had to leave before the A-10 flew, but otherwise got my fill of avgas fumes and piston engine sounds!

Anything to Offer?

I am surprised I didn't get stung taking this series of images. The bees were everywhere around me. Interesting exercise, though.

Wedding Band

I've been asked to be the photographer at one and maybe two family weddings this year, one in Australia and the other in the U.K. Talk about high stress! Because they are family, they don't really worry about super high quality, but in the back of my mind I am thinking that this is the biggest day of their lives and the photos need to be special. So, I've started messing around with some different concepts that I have seen the pros do. Here is a test of a wedding band on a prayer book. This was with my Nikon D7000, Nikon 50mm F1.8 lens and SB-400 speedlight flash with diffuser.

State Rally for Texas Schools

Thousands of teachers from school districts all across Texas descended on the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas, on March 12, 2011. The rally was to oppose proposed cuts to Texas school districts which will affect staff levels, entail school closures and, it is feared, dramatically negate the quality of education in the state.

Bee at Work - The Movie!

Bee at Work - The Movie! a video by The Guvnah on Flickr.

I originally set out to capture some macro shots of some bees busy at work in my garden. Then I decided to try and shoot them on film using the D7000's HD movie mode. I haven't done this too much before. Anyway, decent, interesting results here.
